What 3 Types of Detoxing are Suitable for Weight Loss

Detoxing during a weight loss journey can be very helpful for accelerating fat loss, boosting your energy, eliminating waste and improving your health in general. There are countless detox teas, cleanses and other commercially sold detox products on the market.

In this article, we’ll look at 3 natural ways to detox. You do not need to spend any money on these 3 detox methods and they’re just as effective. In fact, they’re safer than most detox teas sold on the shelves.

1. Water Fasting

Like its name suggests, all you’ll be doing is drinking water during a water fast. No food, no sugar-free drinks, no coffee
 absolute zilch. You can only drink water.

This is one of the most effective ways to detox the body, and it’s also one of the most difficult ways. Generally, you should aim for a 3 to 5-day water fast. Contrary to popular belief, you’ll not become more and more hungry each day.

The first 3 days will be difficult. You’ll experience hunger pangs, headaches, caffeine withdrawal (if you drink coffee daily), sugar cravings, etc. All this is normal and par for the course.

From the 4th day, you’ll notice that you’re no longer hungry. In fact, you’ll have more energy and mental clarity. You’re in ketosis. From here, you can carry on water fasting until you start feeling really hungry.

This should occur anywhere from the 7th to 9th day or so. It all depends. So, you’ll need to pay attention to your body. During this period, you’ll lose several pounds and while most of it will be water weight, you’ll lose a lot of fat too.

Do note that during the water fasting period, it’s best not to exercise too hard. A 30-minute walk every day will more than suffice. In fact, you may choose to just rest during the first 3 days when the body is flushing out the toxins and excess water.

2. 1 Week Detox

The 1 Week Detox is a very popular detox with many variations. The most common method is to drink vegetable smoothies for every meal. These smoothies will be made with raw vegetables and fruit.

You’ll not have any solid food or processed foods. Since the veggies are chockful of micronutrients that the body needs, you’ll be meeting all your nutrient requirements and still detoxing.

There’s a documentary, “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead”, where the main character, Joe Cross, who is morbidly obese and sick goes on a juice fast for 60 days and miraculously regains his health.

The 1 Week Detox is a scaled down version, but it’s still long enough for the body to detox and cleanse itself. If you like it, you can carry on for 30 days and see how you feel.

3. Exercise

Most people would not expect to see exercise on this list. Yet, it’s an excellent way to detox. Physical movement will help the blood and lymph fluid in the body to circulate and wash away toxins.

The perspiration that occurs during and after your workout will help to flush out more toxins through your skin which is the largest organ in your body. You’ll feel more energetic, happier (because of the release of endorphins) and sleep better at night.

Exercise is a very powerful way to detox, and when combined with a clean, healthy diet, you’ll see weight loss in no time at all.

The three methods in this article will help your body detox and lose weight effectively. Ultimately, your goal should be to make clean eating and regular exercise a lifestyle choice rather than a short-term measure to achieve a weight loss goal.
